      <image:title>About - My Philosophy</image:title>
<image:caption>I believe that as members of our family, dogs deserve to be treated that way. In my training, I don’t rely on micromanaging a dog’s behavior – I find the root cause of an inappropriate behavior and work to solve it. I respect that dogs have emotions that create problem behaviors like reactivity, jumping, fearfulness, pulling on a leash, and separation anxiety. Instead of punishing the behavior I’ll change the emotion that causes it so the dog will learn to choose good behaviors on their own.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - About Maddy</image:title>
<image:caption>Maddy is a native New Hampshirite who returned to her home state in 2020 after a decade in Vermont. She moved back with her partner Aaron and her beloved rescue dogs Roger (cattle dog mix) and Pepper (pit mix). She started Maple Run Dog Camp in 2019. After learning how much happier dogs are when they have the opportunity to spend time unleashed and build confidence through outdoor adventures and relationships with other dogs, Maddy decided to use her skills to create a community of happy, well-adjusted, confident dogs. When she’s not immersed in the world of dogs, she’s a pretty awesome amateur baker and scrappy DIY-er. She’s also an intermittent naturalist and an undercover barista.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Training - How Does it work?</image:title>
<image:caption>I use Mark McCabe’s Training Between The Ears training system to make dogs’ lives better. Through behavior modification, we’ll focus on changing the “why” behind your dog’s inappropriate behaviors to create real solutions. I’ll use compassionate communication to teach your dog to feel safe and secure. By changing the way your dog feels about the world, we can fix the root of the problem so your dog will choose good behaviors without having to be micro-managed. This creates permanent change in your dog. You’ll learn to communicate with your dog better and build a more trusting relationship.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Dog Camp - How Dog Camp Works</image:title>
<image:caption>I pick your dog up from your home, we spend 2 hours hiking, running, and playing on private land with their dog friends, and I drop them back at home. Doggy daycare can be too much for some dogs. Dog camp is like sending your kid to nature camp, while doggy daycare is more like dropping them off at the playground. We keep the energy level of the pack balanced, and mix free time to play and explore with structured packwalking and other activities to help them learn to control their emotions and practice impulse control. They’ll carry these skills with them outside of dog camp. Outdoor, offleash adventures introduce dogs to countless new challenges. They’ll get tons of exercise while gaining confidence and enrichment. After dog camp, you’ll come home to a tired, happy, and better behaved dog. You’ll get to enjoy your time with your dog instead of feeling like you have to get exercise and training out of the way. And your dog has a blast while learning new life skills – it’s a win win!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Dog Camp - Frequently Asked Questions</image:title>
<image:caption>What makes Maple Run different? I hike the dogs on private land. This helps keep everyone safe by minimizing the unknowns, like running into people and dogs we don’t know, coming across wild animals, etc. I also spend lots of time training the dogs to keep energy levels safe and socializing appropriate, so the dogs are learning to play nicely and respect each other, rather than just exploding all their energy out. Is my dog a good fit? Dog camp is suitable for friendly dogs with great recall. Not quite there yet? We can help with that - talk to me about training. How often can my dog attend camp? We ask that dogs are able to come at least once a week-any less and they just can’t learn the skills we ask of them. Can my puppy be a camp dog? Camp isn’t appropriate for puppies under 1 year old. They have a higher risk of injury and their attention spans are too short for some camp activities. But now is the perfect time to start preparing them to be camp dogs! Reach out for more information on puppy training programs.</image:caption>
